Melamine edged boards are the main material for the manufacture of furniture. Melamine coated wood is the material of choice for the vast majority of industries in the furniture sector. In particular, melamine is a stable and resistant synthetic polymer that is used in all kinds of industrial solutions.
It is essential to know that when you work with melamine boards, the edges are unprotected, so to manufacture a piece it is necessary to have an edged melamine board. This is where Protecnic comes in. Our extrusion team has been designing and manufacturing ABS PVC edges for the furniture industry for over 25 years.
The main function of the edges is to protect the board from all kinds of knocks, scratches and dampness, which is why it is so important to have a melamine board with edges when manufacturing the furniture.
How are edges fabricated?
In our facilities we have four extrusion lines that are kept in continuous operation in order to manufacture PVC and ABS edges. Following the guidelines set by our customers: colours, finishes and veins they need, our team manufactures the different edges to the exact size. Our mission is that these are invisible to the eye and the edged melamine board has a continuous and fluid image.
After the edgebanding process has been completed, an adhesive is applied to the back of the PVC film, which is suitable for the hotmelt glues used in edgebanding machines used by furniture manufacturers.
At Protecnic we have a catalogue of more than 5000 references of PVC ABS edging. In addition, our sample book expands month by month, adapting to industry trends. Our office specialises in creating counter-types that fit the latest melamine board designs to the millimetre, manufacturing them and delivering them to the customer as they wish.
